Robert C. Watson Award in Intellectual Property – Deadline June 30th

Law students are encouraged to submit an article on an IP topic. Judges will consider the merit of the article as a contribution to the knowledge respecting intellectual property and the extent to which it displays original and creative thought or information not previously written or published.

The Cumberland County Bar Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications  for all students who are currently attending or will be attending law school in the Fall of 2025. 2025 Brown Award for Excellence in Legal Writing – Deadline December 31st

The Judge John R. Brown Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce the thirty-second annual Brown Award. The Award honors excellence in legal writing in American law schools. Any law student currently enrolled in an accredited law school in the United States seeking a J.D. or LL.B degree is eligible to submit a paper for the Award. The amounts awarded for 2025 will be as follows:

$15,000 First Place,
$7,500 Second Place,
$5,000 Third Place,
$2,500 Finalist,
$2,500 Finalist, and
$5,000 to the Scholarship Fund selected by the Dean of the law school in which the First-Place candidate is enrolled.

In order to be considered, two copies of a current legal writing must be submitted to the Foundation c/o Kenneth G. Engerrand, Brown Sims, P.C., 1990 Post Oak Blvd., Suite 1800, Houston, Texas 77056. The article must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a law school faculty member or legal professional other than the author of the paper. Only one paper may be submitted on behalf of any student, and only one paper may be sponsored by any faculty member or legal professional. The submission must be postmarked no later than May 30, 2025.

The submission must contain a separate sheet containing the title of the paper; the name, physical address, telephone number, and email address of the student; the name of the student’s law school; and the name, title, physical address, and email address of the student’s sponsor. There is no page limitation or restriction on the topic except that the writing must be on a legal subject. Papers that have been submitted to a law review for publication are eligible, but the submission must be of the paper in its form before it was edited by anyone other than the author.

The Foundation will appoint a final judging panel consisting of a law school dean, a federal judge, and a law school professor. The Foundation will not return any material submitted to the Foundation. The 2025 recipient of the Brown Award will be notified by December 31, 2025, and listed with the other finalists at the website www.brownsims.com/about-brown-sims/affiliations/judge-john-r-brown-award/.

Meltzer Fellowships through the Sheller Center for Social Justice

Meltzer Social Justice Grants offer stipends of $1,000 to $3,000 to students who design and carry out innovative social justice projects. Applications are welcomed on a rolling basis as long as funding is available, and can be for work planned to occur this fall; over the course of both semesters; or in the spring semester. PIDC D’Alessio Scholarship for Urban Development – Deadline March 31st

PIDC is now accepting applications for the 2023 PIDC D’Alessio Scholarship for Urban Development. Up to two (2) scholarships of up to $2,500 each will be awarded. Scholarship recipients will also be offered a paid PIDC fall internship in 2023. Students must either be pursuing a graduate degree at a Philadelphia college or university or be a Philadelphia resident at a college or university studying outside the Philadelphia area. The PBA Environmental & Energy Law Section Minority Scholarship – Deadline April 1st

PBF Environmental and Energy Law Section Minority Scholarship awards up to nine scholarships specifically designated to support historically under-represented racial/ethnic minority law students. Emphasis is placed on applicants’ academics, volunteer experience, and interests that show a commitment to working as an environmental and energy law attorney. Societa’ da Vinci and the Justinian Society of Delaware County Joint Scholarship Program – Deadline April 7th

The Societá da Vinci and the Delaware County Justinian Society are proud to present a joint scholarship program dedicated to helping individuals in the targeted communities of Delaware County Pennsylvania (DELCO) and the State of Delaware in achieving a career in the legal profession. Notre Dame Law School Smith-Doheny Legal Ethics Writing Competition – Deadline April 15th

Robert Masur Fellowship in Civil Liberties for 1L students – Deadline April 21st

This fellowship is open to first-year law students who intend to carry out significant activities during the summer (in between their first and second year) in the areas of civil rights and/or civil liberties. Fellows each receive a $2,000 honorarium. Proposed activities may include a writing or research project, work with a public interest organization in the areas of civil rights or civil liberties, work on a civil rights or civil liberties law case under the supervision of a faculty member or lawyer, or any other work in the areas of civil rights or civil liberties.

PBA Intellectual Property Law Section Law Student Writing Contest – Deadline April 24th

The PBA Intellectual Property Law Section is offering $500 to the law student winner of the section’s 2023 writing contest. This is an opportunity for law students to express in writing their insight and knowledge in the areas of patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets or trade dress. Marshall M. Schulman Criminal Law Student Writing Competition – Deadline April 28th

First year law students are invited to participate in this year’s Marshall M. Lawrence M. Klemow, Esq. Memorial Scholarship – Deadline April 28th

The Luzerne Foundation is once again offering the Lawrence M. Klemow, Esq. Memorial Scholarship, which is available to students pursuing a law degree who reside in the Greater Hazleton area in Pennsylvania. ABA LGBT Public Interest Scholarship – Deadline April 28th

The SOGI Commission is now accepting applications through April 28, 2023 for the LGBT Public Interest Scholarship for Summer/Fall 2023.

  • This scholarship is intended for law students and/or recent law school graduates studying for the Bar who are either LGBTQ+ or who will be working in the LGBTQ+ space doing public interest work.
  • The Scholarship will provide financial support to a first, second-, or third-year law student, or recent law graduate to enable the student or recent law graduate to work in the LGBTQ+ public interest arena.
  • One or more scholarships of up to $5000 each are awarded annually, subject to the availability of funds and the recommendation of the Commission’s Scholarship Committee.

Hannah R. Arterian Memorial Scholarship – Deadline April 30th

The Scholarship is open to all 1L MAX participants who complete the entire eight-lesson Financial Foundations course and attend at least two MAX events. AAJ Law Student Scholarships – Deadline May 1st

Each year, the American Association for Justice® (AAJ®) celebrates the hard work and accomplishments of our Law Student members by offering multiple law student scholarships. AAJ is proud to continue to offer these scholarships and will highlight and honor recipients during AAJ’s 2023 Annual Convention.

Richard D. Hailey Scholarship

AAJ’s Minority Caucus will award a $5,000 scholarship along with registration to our 2023 Annual Convention to a minority Law Student member entering his or her first, second, or third year of law school.

Mike Eidson Scholarship

The Women Trial Lawyers Caucus awards a $5,000 scholarship along with registration to our 2023 Annual Convention to a female law student entering her third year (or fourth year in a part-time program) of law school who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a trial lawyer.

Trial Advocacy Scholarship

This scholarship awards $3,000 to AAJ Law Student members entering their second or third year of law school who demonstrate a desire to represent those who have been injured by the negligence or misconduct of others.

Leesfield AAJ Scholarship

The Leesfield AAJ scholarship awards $1,500 to a first- or second-year Law Student member.

With the exception of the Mike Eidson Scholarship, applicants must be an AAJ Law Student member to qualify for a scholarship. Law students can join AAJ at the rate of $15 for one year. Third Annual Judge Samuel G. DeSimone Memorial Legal Writing Competition – Deadline May 15th

The Cumberland County, Gloucester County and Salem County Bar Associations are pleased to jointly announce the 2023 legal writing competition in honor of the late Judge Samuel G. DeSimone, former New Jersey Superior Court Assignment Judge for Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties (known as Vicinage XV). The Judge Samuel G. DeSimone Legal Writing Competition is open to full-time and part-time law students who are enrolled in the 2022-2023 academic year at an accredited law school. Applicants must reside in Burlington, Ocean, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester or Camden Counties.

The author of the first-place submission will receive a cash award of $4,000.00 (($1,000.00 from each of the County Bar Foundations of Vicinage XV and $1,000.00 from John DeSimone, Esq.) and the publication of their submission in each of the County Bar Associations’ newsletters and on their websites. The winner will also be invited to a meeting of one of the County Bar Associations of Vicinage XV in early summer 2023 to receive their award. The Patti Rose Scheimer Bednarik Memorial Scholarship Fund – Deadline May 21st

The Patti Rose Scheimer Bednarik Memorial Scholarship Fund is a scholarship awarded to a “law school student who pursues an interest in animal welfare as part of his/her daily activities and legal training or grant to a young lawyer who pursues an interest in animal welfare as part of his/her daily activities or law practice.”

The Fund solicits applications from PA residents enrolled in any accredited law school located in the United States;  law students enrolled in any PA accredited law school; or PA lawyers in practice less than three years.

Philadelphia Bar Association YLD Diversity Scholarship – Deadline May 31st

The Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association has re-announced its annual YLD Diversity Scholarship for local law students of diverse backgrounds. The goal of the YLD Diversity Scholarship is to identify and promote students who will be future leaders within the bar and their respective affinity bar organizations. In considering candidates, the YLD Diversity Committee looks to the candidate’s involvement in the community, leadership skills, and a demonstrable commitment to practicing law in Philadelphia following graduation. Students who are interested in applying for this award must submit the materials required in the enclosed application to the Board via email to philalgbtqbar@gmail.com to seek recommendation. 2023 Everytown Law Writing Competition – Deadline June 2nd

The Everytown Law Fund is proud to announce its first annual National Writing Competition open to current law school students!

Gun violence is one of the most pressing public health issues of our time. Through this writing competition, Everytown Law encourages the next generation of lawyers to consider ways in which litigation can be used to shape the future of gun violence prevention and gun safety in the civil and criminal justice systems. We invite you to be creative in choosing your idea! A list of sample topics may be found on the Writing Competition web page.

All submissions must be received by Friday, June 2, 2023, midnight EST. Everytown Law may award up to three prizes1: a first place prize of $2,500 and two runners-up prizes of $1,000. The winner and two runners-up will receive a speaking opportunity at an Everytown for Gun Safety convening. All three top papers will be eligible for publication on Everytown for Gun Safety’s website or social media. Winning submissions will be announced in August 2023.

College of Labor and Employment Lawyers – Annual Law Student Writing Competition 2022-2023 – Deadline June 15th

The ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law and The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers are pleased to announce their 2022 writing competition.  This competition is open to articles written while the author is an active student at an accredited law school in the United States.  Prizes are as follows:  First Place: $3000; Second Place: $1000, and Third Place:  $500.  The first-place winning article may be selected for publication in the ABA Journal of Labor & Employment Law.  In addition, the author of the first-place paper will be a guest at the ABA Annual Section of Labor and Employment Law Conference and honored at the Annual Induction Dinner of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.  The College and the Section reserve the right not to select any article for publication or award any prizes if, in their judgment, the submissions do not meet their standards for outstanding legal writing.  Please click HERE to view the Announcement and Rules for this Competition. Ms. JD Public Interest Scholarship – Deadline June 25th

The Ms. JD Public Interest Scholarship program provides a stipend to students as they pursue careers in public interest law. Ms. JD is thrilled to continue our support of women pursuing public interest careers and soften the burden faced by those who accept public interest internships, which are often unpaid.

The definition of public interest law is broad and includes both domestic and international work; direct service, impact litigation, and policy work; and government and non-profit work. Former public interest scholarship award recipients have pursued internships in immigration law, women’s rights, public health, public defense, government at all levels, and criminal justice reform.

Alpha Accident Lawyers Spring 2023 Scholarship – Deadline July 14th

StangerLaw LLC Law School Scholarship – Deadline July 16th

The attorneys at StangerLaw LLC are passionate about advocating for our personal injury and auto accident clients. So passionate, in fact, that we want to ensure that the next generation of lawyers is prepared to represent these same clients. That preparation begins in law school.

To encourage students to focus on their studies, StangerLaw LLC will award $1,000 to one law student who responds to the video essay prompt. Interested applicants must submit a video essay answering the question: Who is your favorite fictional TV lawyer and why?

To be eligible to receive the $1,000 scholarship, students must:

  • Answer both parts of the prompt in their video essay;

Philadelphia car accident lawyers are known for obtaining high judgments in Court for victims of car accidents. The Philadelphia Bar Association is pleased to announce the 2023 Legal Writing Competition in honor of the late Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Mercer County Bar Foundation Samantha Josephson Scholarship – Deadline October 13th

The Mercer County Bar Foundation Scholarship is awarded annually to a current or incoming law school student who resides in or has ties with Mercer County, NJ to assist the recipient in his or her academic pursuits in the legal field. The $5,500 scholarship is given to the student who has ties to Mercer County, who demonstrates financial need, and who is involved in community organizations. American Bar Association Law Student Writing Contest on the Standing Committee on Armed Forces – Deadline November 10th

The Law Student Writing Contest of the Standing Committee on Armed Forces Law (SCAFL) is a competitive writing contest with the goal of recognizing law students who have exceptional written work that focuses on the military’s application of criminal law—also known as military justice. Stetson Advocacy Writing Competition & Online Writing Workshop – Register by November 22nd

The annual Stetson Advocacy Writing Competition is underway!  Submissions are not being accepted

  • The winner will receive an award of $1,000.00 and be guaranteed publication in the Stetson Journal of Advocacy and the Law.
  • The winner will have an opportunity to present their winning article or a related topic at the annual Educating Advocacy Teachers Conference (EATS) hosted by Stetson from June 10 to 12, 2024.
  • Each contestant should enter an article related to teaching advocacy skills or discussing contemporary issues related to oral and written advocacy.  Submissions must be 3,000 to 10,000 words with no more than 99 footnotes, single spaced, and in 12-point font.  Articles must be submitted to advocacy@law.stetson.edu by February 1, 2024, to be considered.  This competition is open to legal practitioners, judges, professors, and law students.

Get that publication finished with help from your colleagues at the annual FREE online Stetson Writing Workshop on December 12, 2023, from 10 AM to 3 PM EST.  This one-day online workshop includes small group discussions on article topics, publication procedures, and even feedback on your drafts.  We structure the workshop to meet the needs of the community.  Please REGISTER by November 22, 2023.

Wells Call Injury Lawyers Scholarship – Deadline December 2nd

Wells Call Injury Lawyers are sponsoring a law school scholarship. Students who are pursuing law degrees are able to win a $2,500 scholarship to put towards their law school education. Students are asked to write an essay of at least 500 words (and no more than 1000 words) answering the following:

“If you were able to change one state or federal law, what law would it be and why? How would this law impact others in your community or society as a whole? ”

Alpha Accident Lawyers Spring 2023 Scholarship – Deadline December 31st

Alpha Accident Lawyers are excited to offer a new scholarship opportunity, which will be offered each spring and fall semester, giving two students who exemplify a passion for their educational pursuits the chance to receive this one-time monetary award. Fourth Annual Judge Samuel G. DeSimone Memorial Legal Writing Competition – Deadline December 31st

The Cumberland County, Gloucester County and Salem County Bar Associations are pleased to jointly announce the 2023-2024 legal writing competition in honor of the late Judge Samuel G. DeSimone, former New Jersey Superior Court Assignment Judge for Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties (known as Vicinage XV). The Judge Samuel G. DeSimone Legal Writing Competition is open to full-time and part-time law students who are enrolled in the 2023-2024 academic year at an accredited law school. Applicants must reside in Burlington, Ocean, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester or Camden Counties.

The author of the first-place submission will receive a cash award of $4,000 and the publication of the winning submission in the three county bar association newsletters and on their websites. The winner of the first-place award will be invited to a meeting of the three county bar associations in January 2024, at which time the award will be presented, either virtually or in person. 2024 Samuel Gomez Memorial Scholarship – Deadline January 17th

Sam Gomez was a graduate of Temple University School of Law.  He worked at Community Legal Services, as an attorney, and was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.  The scholarship award alternates between Temple Law and Penn Law, and will be awarded to a Temple Law student in spring 2024.

Applicants must submit a one page essay which discusses their involvement in community service, along with a resume. Please make sure to include your name on the essay.  You should email your application to Johanne Johnston, Assistant Dean for Admissions & Financial Aid, at johanne.johnston@temple.edu, no later than Wednesday, January 17th.

The award will be presented at the annual Lunar Banquet conducted by the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania (APABA-PA) tentatively scheduled for Friday, February 2, 2024. The scholarship recipient is expected to attend the banquet.

Environmental Law Forum Law Student Scholarships – Deadline February 9th

The Environmental & Energy Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association sponsors scholarships for two students from each of Pennsylvania’s nine law schools to attend the Environmental Law Forum. Each scholarship includes free tuition to the two-day program, the Environmental & Energy Law Section Dinner on Wed. April 10, and hotel accommodations for the nights of April 9 and April 10 at the Harrisburg Hilton for those not living in the Harrisburg area. The scholarship also covers hotel parking and a mileage reimbursement for travel to Harrisburg.

Contact your law school’s career services office or environmental law professors. Each school will internally select students for the scholarships. 2023-2024 American Indian Law Review National Writing Competition – Deadline February 29th

This year’s American Indian Law Review national writing competition is now welcoming papers from students at accredited law schools in the United States and Canada.  Papers will be accepted on any legal issue specifically concerning American Indians or other indigenous peoples.  Three cash prizes will be awarded: $1,500 for first place, $750 for second place, and $400 for third place. Each of the three winning authors will also be awarded an eBook copy of Cohen’s Handbook of Federal Indian Law, provided by LexisNexis.  The first-place paper will be published in the Review.

The deadline for entries is Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time

Sponsored by the University of Oklahoma College of Law, the American Indian Law Review has proudly served Native and legal communities since 1973. NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund Law School Writing Contest – Deadline March 1

The entry period for the Civil Rights Defense Fund Law Student Second Amendment Writing Competition is drawing to a close. The deadline for all entries is March 1, 2024.

All law students currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school are encouraged to submit their entries for a chance to receive the following awards:

  • $5,000.00 for first place
  • $3,000.00 for second place
  • $2,000.00 for third place.

PIDC D’Alessio Scholarship for Urban Development – Deadline March 31st

PIDC is now accepting applications for the 2024 PIDC D’Alessio Scholarship for Urban Developmentto support graduate students pursuing a career in urban studies, economics, law, public administration, real estate, regional and/or city planning, and urban planning and design. Up to two (2) scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded along with a paid PIDC fall internship in 2024. Students must either be pursuing a graduate degree at a Philadelphia college or university or be a Philadelphia resident at a college or university studying outside the Philadelphia area. Each year, AAJ’s Minority Caucus awards a $5,000 scholarship to a minority Law Student member entering their first, second, or third year of law school.  Additionally, the winner receives a registration and travel stipend to attend the AAJ Annual Convention.

Mike Eidson Law Student Scholarship – Deadline May 1st

Each year, the Women Trial Lawyers Caucus awards a $5,000 scholarship to a female student entering her third year of law school (the student can be enrolled in a three-year day program or four-year night program) who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a trial lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized.  Additionally, the winner receives a registration and travel stipend to attend the AAJ Annual Convention.

Sponsored by AAJ and AAJ member Ira Leesfield, this scholarship awards $1,500 to a first- or second-year law student and is to help subsidize the Law Student Member’s attendance at AAJ’s Annual Convention.

2024 Marshall M. Schulmann Writing Competition – Deadline May 12, 2024

The Criminal Law Section of the California Lawyers Association (CLA) announces the 2024 Marshall M. Schulman Student Writing Competition.  Named after an esteemed prosecutor and defense attorney, Marshall Schulman, this competition is open to all law students, whatever their year of study.  Although it is helpful when the submission concerns California law, any article about any current issues in criminal law are acceptable.  Last year’s winning submissions came from schools across the country, from UCLA to Fordham. Grand Prize is $2500, the three honorable mentions are $1000.  This competition is particularly good for 1L students, as it does not require a Law Review-type note, but a shorter article that is informative and to the point.    Any questions can be addressed to me at anne.perry@usdoj.gov.  The deadline will be midnight, Sunday, May 12, 2024, with the winners to be announced September 6, 2024. College of Labor and Employment Lawyers Law Student Writing Competition – Deadline June 15th

The ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law and The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers are pleased to announce their 2024 writing competition. This competition is open to articles written while the author is an active student at an accredited law school in the United States. Authors may not have graduated from law school prior to December 1, 2023. Graduate students in law school (LLM candidates) are not eligible.

Prizes are as follows: First Place: $3000; Second Place: $1000, and Third Place: $500. The first-place winning article may be selected for publication in the ABA Journal of Labor & Employment Law. In addition, the author of the first-place paper will be a guest at the ABA Annual Section of Labor and Employment Law Conference and honored at the Annual Induction Dinner of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. The College and the Section reserve the right not to select any article for publication or award any prizes if, in their judgment, the submissions do not meet their standards for outstanding legal writing.

American IP Law Association Robert C. Watson Award – Deadline June 30th

AIPLA has sponsored this student competition for many years to encourage interest in intellectual property issues. Students are encouraged to submit articles on a subject relating to the protection of intellectual property.

Judges consider the merit of the article as a contribution to the knowledge respecting intellectual property and the extent to which it displays original and creative thought or information not previously written or published by an author.

Law students are encouraged to submit an article on an IP topic, written on or before June 30, 2024. Judges will consider the merit of the article as a contribution to the knowledge respecting intellectual property and the extent to which it displays original and creative thought or information not previously written or published by the author prior to July 1, 2023.

The winner will receive reasonable expense reimbursement to attend the AIPLA Annual Meeting, October 24 – 26, 2024 in Washington DC, to receive their award.

To be eligible for consideration, the article must have been written solely by a student or students either in full-time attendance at a law school (day or evening) or prepared in connection with a law school course. The article must be submitted to the American Intellectual Property Law Association on or before June 30, 2024. Papers should be approximately the equivalent of 10 law review pages, including footnotes (30 – 40 pages typed copy). Submission must be made in PDF or text format. Submission must include the submitter’s name, current address, current telephone number, and employment information, if applicable.

Haitian American Lawyers Association of New York Annual Legal Scholarship – Deadline September 13th

The Haitian American Lawyers Association of New York (HALANY) invites law students to apply for their 2024 law student scholarship.

To qualify, applicants must:

      • be a member of HALANY;
      • be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher;
      • submit an original legal scholarship paper of no more than 1,000 words along with a headshot, resume, and proof of enrollment at an ABA-accredited law school for 2023-2024 or registration for a Bar Review Course for 2024;
      • attend HALANY sanctioned and community service events; and
      • show community service involvement, academic achievement, and/or demonstrated financial need.

2024 Mercer County Bar Foundation Samantha Josephson Scholarship – Deadline November 1st

The Mercer County Bar Foundation Scholarship is awarded annually to a current or incoming law school student who resides in or has ties with Mercer County, NJ to assist the recipient in his or her academic pursuits in the legal field. The $5,500 scholarship is given to the student who has ties to Mercer County, who demonstrates financial need, and who is involved in community organizations. Janet Doherty Memorial Scholarship – Deadline November 12th

This $5,000 scholarship is funded by The Community Foundation’s (TCF) Happy Soles Fund and is available to current or former residents of Delaware County, PA who are pursuing a law degree.

TCF is seeking applications from students whose personal actions will honor Janet’s legacy. Janet was a beloved mother, friend, attorney, cancer survivor, and community leader. American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) Law School Student Writing Award – Deadline December 31st

The ACREL Law Student Writing Award is an annual award given by the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) (https://www.acrel.org/acrel/default.asp) to the author(s) of a student-authored article relating to real property that is published, or accepted for publication, in a scholarly journal sponsored by a law school in the United States. The award is intended to recognize and encourage thoughtful student scholarship and excellent writing in the area of real property law or related topics.

The 2024 award competition is open to persons who are registered students at ABA-accredited law schools in the United States and its territories and possessions as of December 31, 2024. To be eligible to participate in the 2024 competition, as of December 31, 2024, an entrant also must be 21 or over, and a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States.

Papers should address a topical issue of interest in real property law or related areas, including, for example, real estate aspects of financing, bankruptcy or environmental law. Papers shall have been published, or accepted for publication, in a scholarly journal sponsored by an ABA-accredited law school in the United States and its territories and possessions within calendar year 2024.

The NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund would like to make you aware of its Second Annual Law Student Second Amendment Research and Writing Competition.

Ambro Fellowship for Summer Internship in Delaware Bankruptcy Court – Deadline March 1st

The Delaware Bankruptcy American Inn of Court is awarding a $6,000 stipend to a student who will have completed their first or second year of law school for a summer internship with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The candidate must be available for an eight-week internship rotating among four of the Judges of the Delaware Bankruptcy Court beginning June 2, 2025.

The criteria for the successful candidate should include:

  1. an interest in practicing law in Delaware;
  2. a sense of ethics and high moral character;
  3. intelligence, honesty and a willingness to work hard;
  4. a pleasant personality and ability to work independently or as part of a
    team; and
  5. an interest in commercial or bankruptcy law.

DELAWARE BANKRUPTCY COURT REQUIREMENTS: Candidate will be selected provisionally pending the results of a background check.

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants who meet the selection criteria should send an e-mail, no later than March 1, 2025, containing a letter of interest, resume, and writing sample to Demitra Yeager, Judicial Assistant, at demitra_yeager@deb.uscourts.gov.

The Judges of the Delaware Bankruptcy Court will select the successful candidate in their sole discretion. Virtual interviews will be conducted the week of March 10, 2025. The recipient will be notified by March 19, 2025. Half of the stipend will be paid to the recipient at the start of the fellowship, and the remainder will be paid at the end of the fellowship.

Pennsylvania for Modern Courts 2025 Law Student Writing Competition – Deadline March 31st

Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts (PMC) is excited to launch their 2025 Law Student Writing Competition for 2L and 3L students in PA. This year, PMC is asking students to address the topic: What is the role of Artificial Intelligence, if any, in jury selection, and what would be the advantages and disadvantages of such use?

Our hope continues to be to understand better what soon-to-be lawyers think about our judicial system and how best to maintain its integrity as an independent branch of government. We also want to encourage them to get involved in our work.

The competition is open to law students, 2L & 3L in area law schools in Pennsylvania, Camden and Delaware. The papers will be due by March 31, 2025. Justinian Foundation of Philadelphia 2025 Richard F. Furia, Esq. Scholarship – Deadline May 30th

The Justinian Society was founded in 1935 and serves Philadelphia’s Italian-American attorneys and judges. Richard F. Furia, Esq. co-founder of The Justinian Foundation, followed in his father, the Honorable Edward W. Furia’s footsteps, both having served as chancellors of The Justinian Society. Before Richard’s death in 2011, he requested that memorial donations be sent to The Justinian Foundation. Richard was very active in the Society ad the Orders of the Sounds of Italy in America Commission for Social Justice, fighting against stereotypes that sought to disenfranchise Italian-Americans. To that end, the Justinian Foundation of Philadelphia invites any law school student currently in his/her second year to submit a 750 – 1,000 word essay answering:

As an attorney, what will you do to fight against stereotyping and defamation of Italian-Americans and people of all races, religions and cultures in general?

The scholarship recipient will be invited to The Justinian Society and Foundation luncheon in June 2025, to accept the scholarship payable to the recipient’s law school for his/her third year.

Due Date: May 30, 2025, 5pm EST
