All May 2023 Graduates – The Graduation Application is Now Open!
The Graduation Application is now open for the May 2023 graduating class.
Students who plan to graduate in May 2023 must apply to graduate through the University TUPortal/Self Service Banner system. This application must be completed by Monday, January 30, 2023 for all law May 2023 graduates. Students enrolled in dual degree programs will have to submit a separate graduation application for each degree. The graduation application is an easy and fast application to complete, but failing to complete it by the deadline can cause a delay in receiving your diploma.
Please follow the instructions below to apply for graduation.
- Sign in to TUPortal.
- Click on the Student Tools tab at the top of the page.
- Go to the Records section which is located on the right side of the page.
- Select Apply to Graduate.
- Confirm that the program listed is correct (should be: Current Program – Juris Doctor)
- Select a Graduation term – Spring 2023 should be the only option.
- Review and submit.
You should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of submitting your application. The email will include information on how your name will appear on the diploma. If you would like to make changes to your legal name, you can follow the instructions outlined in the email or submit the Personal Information Update Form directly to the Law School Office of Academic Records.

Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers – OPEN STUDENT HOURS
Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL) is hosting Open Student Hours on the following days this semester:

On these days, you can contact LCL’s Executive Director, Laurie Besden, for a confidential 30-minute session. All you have to do is email Laurie at laurie@lclpa.org and request a zoom meeting and Laurie will send you a unique link for your session only. LCL offers not only incredible resources but an ear to help students navigate disclosure issues, stress, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and substance use/mental health challenges. These sessions are confidential, and the school is NOT involved in any respect. LCL remains available 24/7/365 to you, even while you are on winter break.

Mac Users: Update Regarding macOS Ventura
As a follow-up to their previous advisory, Information Technology Services has advised that Mac users will be able to safely upgrade their computer to macOS Ventura beginning Friday, January 20.
If you use specialized software, however, first check with the manufacturer to ensure there are no compatibility issues before upgrading.

Spring of 1L year is a very busy time for students and there are many information sessions, application deadlines, and opportunities. We have learned that students sometimes miss these opportunities because the spring is a very challenging and busy semester (and we know you get a lot of email!) In response to a student survey last year, we are holding a short 30-minute Zoom Re-Orientation on January 24th at 4:30PM. This Re-Orientation will be designed to give all students an overview of the many opportunities that will come your way in the coming months. We want to make sure that every student has a good foundational understanding of the importance of some of the opportunities at Temple Law. We hope that providing a general timeline for the next several months, and explaining some of the acronyms that are commonly used, is a good way to start. PACA Community of Practice Program – January 26 and March Sessions
PACA are thrilled to launch the Community of Practice Program. PACA co-op developer will give an introduction to cooperatives and a representative from the legal field, who has experience working with cooperatives, will discuss how the industry most often supports and/or collaborates with co-ops, as well as the specific needs and realities of working with cooperatives. The first session will focus on lawyers. The session will be held on Thursday, January 26th, from 6-7:30pm. It will focus on legal support for the formation of co-ops. Pennsylvania Environmental Law Forum Scholarship – Deadline January 26th
Each year, the Environmental & Energy Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association sponsors scholarships for law students from each of Pennsylvania’s nine law schools to attend the annual Environmental Law Forum in Harrisburg. The 2023 Environmental Law , which will occur on March 15 and 16, 2023.
This is a unique opportunity for students to learn more about environmental law and, perhaps more importantly, interact and network with dozens of practicing attorneys. The Environmental Law is the premiere continuing legal education program for environmental practitioners in Pennsylvania, and the Environmental & Energy Law Section is proud to highlight the student scholarship attendees throughout the program.

Legal Tech Competition at Brooklyn Law School – Deadline January 29th
Law students are invited to participate in the upcoming 10th Annual Stanley M. Grossman Innovators Invitational at CUBE to help launch legal tech ventures.
New York State and New York metropolitan area (NY, NJ, CT and PA) law school students are invited to develop and pitch a novel, legal tech business concept before a panel of industry professionals. Our hope is that all finalists will walk away with prizes ranging from $2,000 to $9,000, out of a prize purse of $15,000.
BLS will be hosting a virtual Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 12:30-1:30pm on Zoom.

The need to address global and social issues is becoming increasingly important. The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Institute at Temple University established the Changemaker Challenge to encourage the development and creation of social impact ideas and ventures with the aim of creating positive change in local communities and around the world.

The PBA Environmental & Energy Law Section Minority Scholarship
PBF Environmental and Energy Law Section Minority Scholarship awards up to nine scholarships specifically designated to support historically under-represented racial/ethnic minority law students. College of Labor and Employment Lawyers – Annual Law Student Writing Competition 2022-2023
The ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law and The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers are pleased to announce their 2022 writing competition. This competition is open to articles written while the author is an active student at an accredited law school in the United States. Meltzer Fellowships through the Sheller Center for Social Justice
Meltzer Social Justice Grants offer stipends of $1,000 to $3,000 to students who design and carry out innovative social justice projects. Applications are welcomed on a rolling basis as long as funding is available, and can be for work planned to occur this fall; over the course of both semesters; or in the spring semester. Knit and Crochet Club Beginning Spring 2023!
In the spirit of wellness and mindfulness, Molly Levy, Professor Mandelbaum, and Noeleen Urmson will be coming together to teach (and learn with!) students the art of knitting and crocheting. This is an opportunity to relax, learn a new skill, and more importantly, connect with one another. Yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks will be provided so that everyone can get started before the first meeting on January 24th. Flu Shots for 2022-2023: Seasonal flu vaccinations are now available for all University students, faculty and staff for the 2022-2023 flu season. All Temple University students, faculty and staff may receive a free seasonal flu shot. You must schedule an appointment on the Patient Health Portal in order to receive your free flu shot. No Walk-ins will be accepted! Flu shots are administer on Main Campus at Morgan Hall North, Room D301 (Entrance from the courtyard in the middle of Morgan North and South).

Temple Campus Walking Escort Program

Call: 8-WALK (8-9255) from a campus phone, or call: 215-777-9255 from a cell phone.Escort service is available daily from 4 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Security Bike Officers provide escort services and maintain communication with Temple Police. Patrol boundaries are Susquehanna Avenue on the north to Jefferson Street on the south, with the exception of 13th to Broad Street, where the southern boundary is Girard Avenue. The western border is 18th Street and the patrol area extends east to 9th Street
Temple Flight Program
Flight is Temple University’s nighttime fixed-route shuttle loop service. Flight-branded shuttles circulate throughout the areas within and surrounding the main campus patrol zone, and pick up and drop off students at each of its over 40 stops. The shuttles arrive approximately every 15 minutes at each stop, and you can track the locations of each shuttle in real time using the TransLoc app.
- Any student, faculty, or staff member with a valid TUid can use Flight. A valid TUid can be your physical or mobile OWLcard.
- Flight operates 7 days per week from 6 PM to 2 AM, and the shuttles arrive at each drop-off and pick-up location every 15 minutes during this service time. The service continues to operate in a modified form during university breaks.
- Flight serves the Main Campus patrol zone. It operates in two loops – the north loop, which covers the northern parts of the patrol zone, and the south loop, which covers the southern and eastern parts of the patrol zone. Shuttles on each loop follow a fixed route around that loop.
Flight shuttles can be tracked in real time using the TransLoc App during hours of operation. Use the website or app to plan your arrival at the shuttle stop most convenient for you – the shuttle driver will stop for you if they see you at the stop, but the shuttle will continue on its way if no one is waiting. Display your Temple ID when boarding the shuttle, and when you’re a block or so from your destination, let the driver know so they can stop the shuttle and let you off.
RAVE Temple Guardian: Campus Personal Safety Mobile App
RAVE Temple Guardian is a new one-touch personal safety mobile app that allows students, faculty and staff to connect directly with Temple University Police.
Setting Up the App
Before setting up the Temple Guardian app, verify that Temple has your phone on file.
- Log in to TUportal.
- Click “Manage My Account” in the upper-right portion of the screen.
- Click “Manage Addresses and Phones.”
- Make sure your phone number is listed with a Phone Type of Mobile—Personal or Mobile—Work. If not, click “Add phone” and follow the prompts to add it.
Then, follow the steps below.
- Search “Rave Guardian” in the Apple App Store for iPhones or Google Play Store for Android phones. Once downloaded, Temple Guardian will also be integrated within TUmobile.
- Register using your Temple AccessNet username. Note that email aliases cannot be used when registering for the app.
- Once registered, you can access new key campus safety features, such as choosing to chat with Temple Police, call Temple Police, call 911 or start a virtual safe walk.
- In the app, users can also update emergency contacts, vehicle information and choose to share their profile directly with 911.

Virtual Safety Walk
In the app, users can choose to set a “guardian,” who can be a member of their friends or family, or a member of the Temple University Police Department. To access the virtual safe walk feature, users must first allow Temple Guardian to access their location. Then, users can set a fixed time for their departure and arrival, and their guardians are notified when they reach their destination.
Chat with Temple University Police
You can directly connect with Temple Police and discreetly report suspicious activity. To initiate a chat with Temple University Police, on the Temple Guardian main screen, tap “Chat with Police,” and then tap “Chat with TU Police.” To report the tip anonymously, tap the slider next to “Go Anonymous.” The screen will go dark.

The Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania is responsible for regulating attorney conduct in Pennsylvania. The Disciplinary Board promotes ethics education, misconduct prevention, and well-being within the legal community. July 2023 Pennsylvania Bar Application Now Open!
The application period for the July 2023 Pennsylvania Bar Exam is now open. If you plan on sitting for the July 2023 bar exam in Pennsylvania, you can begin your online application today.
If you plan on sitting for the bar exam in another jurisdiction, you should refer to that jurisdiction’s website for more information on the application process, timeline, and fees. Not sure where to start? Check out the NCBE’s Directory of Jurisdiction Bar Admission Agencies.

March MPRE Deadline – January 26, 2023
The Registration deadline for the March 2023 administration of the MPRE is Thursday, January 26, 2023. If you are sitting for the July bar exam and have not yet taken the MPRE, you should do so in March. MPRE registration is a multi-step process. You must complete the NCBE portion of the registration process, schedule your test appointment with Pearson VUE, and pay the test fee by 11:59 p.m. central time on the registration deadline. Absolutely no new registrations will be accepted after the deadline. It is to your advantage to schedule your appointment to test and pay the test fee as soon as possible to maximize the locations and times available to you.

2022-2023 MPRE Dates and Deadlines
The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is a two-hour, 60-question multiple-choice examination administered three times per year. It is required for admission to the bars in almost every jurisdiction in the United States. Dates and deadlines have now been announced for the 2023 MPRE administrations. Registration is currently open for the March 2023 MPRE Administration:
- March 28 & 29, 2023 | registration deadline: January 26, 2023
- August 9 & 10, 2023 | registration deadline: June 8, 2023 (not yet open)
- November 2 & 3, 2023 | registration deadline: September 12, 2023 (not yet open)
