COMMUNITY REMINDERS
Join the Nicholas Cipriani Inn of Court
The Nicholas Cipriani Inn of Court is a professional association of Philadelphia judges, lawyers and law students engaged and/or interested in the practice of family law. The Inn meets once per month (usually the 1st or 2nd Wednesday of the month) throughout the academic year for network, dinner & a light legal educational program (the first meeting is Wednesday Sept. 10th at 5:30pm). The meetings take place at Temple University Center City (TUCC) at 15th and Market Streets. There are 2 slots reserved (at no fee) for Temple Law students. To participate, you must commit to attending most if not all of the meetings. If you are interested, please email Professor Sarah Katz at sarah.katz@temple.edu by Friday Sept. 5th at 5pm. If more than 2 students express interest, preference will go to 3Ls and 4Les, and names will be drawn at random.
Delaware Valley Environmental Inn of Court – Networking Opportunity – Environmental Law
See below for information on a great networking opportunity for Temple Law students interested in environmental law. Students interested in in applying should send a paragraph of interest and a resume to Prof. Amy Sinden, Amy.Sinden@temple.edu, by Monday, September 15th.
The Delaware Valley Environmental American Inn of Court (DVEAIC) is offering membership to one or two students from each Philadelphia area law school for its 2025-2026 academic year. DVEAIC is an intimate group of 80 to 90 lawyers, law professors, and law students, and is intended to enhance the professional and ethical quality of legal practice in our community. DVEAIC, which was founded in 1996 and was the 1st Inn in the U.S. to specialize in environmental law, has proven particularly stimulating as the membership is comprised of an exceptional cross-section of the tri-state area’s environmental bar, including representatives from federal, state, and city agencies; in-house and private practices (large and small); public interest organizations; law school professors; and students from each of the six area law schools. DVEAIC meets about once a month. Meetings consist of a one-hour social hour, followed by a one-hour CLE presented by a different team of members.
For law students, the DVEAIC offers a unique opportunity to network with environmental attorneys in a more casual atmosphere, designed to help bridge the gap between law school and formal legal practice. Students can also participate in our mentor/mentee program. Our first meeting of the year will be on September 28, 2022, 5:30pm. Meetings will take place in-person on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December are combined for the first Wednesday in December) through April 2023.
In addition, DVEAIC is dedicated to having a diverse and active membership. Diversity embodies all those differences that make us unique individuals and includes people of different race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, gender, religion, age, personal style, appearance, physical ability as well as people of diverse opinion, perspectives, lifestyles, ideas and thinking. We value the differences in views and perspectives and the varied experiences that are part of a diverse membership. We seek members from a wide variety of environmentally related practice areas, from diverse geographic areas, from diverse practice settings (large/medium/small firms, solo practitioners, in-house, all levels of government, public interest, and academia), and otherwise representative of the environmental bar.
With occasional exceptions, meetings are generally scheduled 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of every month in Center City. Meetings for the 2025-26 year are tentatively scheduled for the following dates:
- 9/17
- 10/22
- 12/3
- 1/28
- 2/25
- 3/25
- 4/22
