Philadelphia is in the final stages of preparations for Pope Francis’s visit this weekend. Center City is filled with welcome signs, street closures, and portable toilets as far as the eye can see. It’s Popeapalooza or Popeocalypse, depending on whether you’re feeling excited or meh about this historic weekend.<\/p>\n

So, how might a busy Philadelphia law student spend Pope weekend?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Bunker down and catch up<\/h3>\n

Time is a law student’s most precious resource. Classes are canceled, offices are closed, and we’re about a third of the way through the semester, so you could take advantage of the gift of some added free time and do some extra reading or writing or whatever else keeps falling to the bottom of your to-do list.<\/p>\n

Celebrate from afar<\/h3>\n

You can get involved without getting too involved–relax with friends over a papal beer<\/a>, check out a Pope-inspired restaurant menu<\/a>, or grab a pope hat cookie<\/a> from DiBruno brothers. Or, keep in touch with classmates stuck on the other side of the Pope fence by downloading the Popemoji app and sending them text messages of the Pope eating a cheesesteak.<\/p>\n

Be a part of the action<\/h3>\n

It’s a historic event, and if you’re so inclined you could be a part of it. Some events are ticketed, but you might catch a glimpse of the Pope in one of the parades or on a Jumbotron downtown. After all, work-life balance is important, too,<\/p>\n

Finally, don’t forget that even if\u00a0you can’t push your way through the crowds to see Pope Francis this weekend, you can always go visit the Pope at the Vatican by taking part in the Temple Law Rome Summer Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n
