My house in particular was constructed in 1916\u2014and has beautiful period features. The home has high ceilings, intricate tile-work, tiled over fireplaces, a skylight in the dining room, and floor to ceiling butler pantry. It is an old home and slightly rough, but with much character.<\/p>\n
My landlord connected me with another Temple Law student from Washington State interested in the property. We spoke about the house and decided living together would be a fit!<\/p>\n
I paid about $500 in rent per month for my room-utilities included.<\/p>\n
I chose the neighborhood in large part because of its proximity to Temple. The house is right next to the dental school and a 8-minute walk from Temple Hospital. I was within walking distance of a hospital, a pharmacy, a number of restaurants.<\/p>\n
My commute is a 7-minute walk to the Broad Street Line, an 8-minute ride on the subway to Cecil B. Moore Station, and I arrive right in front of the law school! I give myself 25 minutes to get to school to be safe. Being so close to the BSL means that I can easily travel around the city.<\/p>\n
My favorite thing about my home is the period character it possesses. Many of the homes in that area are dilapidated, but all of them have gorgeous wooden carvings. The intricacy put into the construction of that era\u2014absolutely magical! Did I mention I lived right next to a Pizza place too?<\/p>\n
My least favorite thing about my home is the surrounding area. The few blocks around my house are fine, and Temple\u2019s campus is very safe. However, I wouldn\u2019t go on a 3am stroll past that area. If I every had to come home very late I could always call for an escort through Temple security services. I had to give up my nighttime jogs, but never had a single problem.<\/p>\n
