Environmental Law Networking Opportunity with the Delaware Valley Environmental Inn of Court<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

The\u00a0Delaware\u00a0Valley\u00a0Environmental\u00a0American\u00a0Inn\u00a0of\u00a0Court\u00a0(DVEAIC) is\u00a0offering membership to two students from each Philadelphia area law school for its 2023-2024 academic year.\u00a0 DVEAIC is an intimate group\u00a0of\u00a080 to 90 lawyers, law professors, and law students, and is intended to enhance the professional and ethical quality\u00a0of\u00a0legal practice in our community.\u00a0 DVEAIC, which was founded in 1996 and was the 1st\u00a0Inn\u00a0in the U.S. to specialize in\u00a0environmental\u00a0law, has proven particularly stimulating as the membership is comprised\u00a0of\u00a0an exceptional cross-section\u00a0of\u00a0the tri-state area\u2019s\u00a0environmental\u00a0bar, including representatives from federal, state, and city agencies; in-house and private practices (large and small); public interest organizations; law school professors; and students from each\u00a0of\u00a0the six area law schools.\u00a0 \u00a0DVEAIC meets about once a month. \u00a0Meetings consist\u00a0of\u00a0a one-hour social hour, followed by a one-hour CLE presented by a different team\u00a0of members.<\/p>\n

For law students, the DVEAIC\u00a0offers a unique opportunity to network with\u00a0environmental\u00a0attorneys in a more casual atmosphere, designed to help bridge the gap between law school and formal legal practice. \u00a0Students can also participate in our mentor\/mentee program. \u00a0Our first meeting\u00a0of\u00a0the year will be on September 28, 2022, 5:30pm. \u00a0Meetings will take place\u00a0in-person\u00a0on the fourth Wednesday\u00a0of\u00a0each month (except November and December are combined for the first Wednesday in December) through April 2023.<\/p>\n

In addition, DVEAIC is dedicated to having a diverse and active membership. \u00a0Diversity embodies all those differences that make us unique individuals and includes people\u00a0of\u00a0different race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, gender, religion, age, personal style, appearance, physical ability as well as people\u00a0of\u00a0diverse opinion, perspectives, lifestyles, ideas and thinking. \u00a0We value the differences in views and perspectives and the varied experiences that are part\u00a0of\u00a0a diverse membership. \u00a0We seek members from a wide variety\u00a0of\u00a0environmentally related practice areas, from diverse geographic areas, from diverse practice settings (large\/medium\/small firms, solo practitioners, in-house, all levels\u00a0of\u00a0government, public interest, and academia), and otherwise representative\u00a0of the\u00a0environmental\u00a0bar.<\/p>\n

Free Federal Bar Association Law Student Membership<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

The Federal Bar Association (FBA) is now offering its Law Student Membership to new applicants for\u00a0free<\/strong>.\u00a0This membership includes\u00a0up to three years of associate membership while the student is enrolled in law school (up to four if in a part-time program) and the first year of their professional membership after graduation. Students may apply for their free membership at\u00a0<\/span>http:\/\/www.fedbar.org\/join<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The FBA is\u00a0the premier professional association for judges and lawyers involved in federal practice.\u00a0 It is a nonpartisan national voluntary bar association with more than 15,000 members, including more than 2,000 members of the Judiciary. The FBA also has nearly 100 professional chapters across the United States tasked with building partnerships with their local law schools and developing affiliated law school student chapters that cater specifically to students considering federal practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

PA Bar Association Environmental and Energy Law Section Mentorship Program – Apply by September 22<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

The Pennsylvania Bar Association, Environmental and Energy Law Section (EELS) Mentorship\u00a0Program is excited to announce that it is accepting\u00a0applications for\u00a0this year\u2019s program which begins in the fall of 2023! The Mentorship Program is a year-long program that provides guidance and opportunities for career development to\u00a0law students and licensed attorneys with an interest in practicing\u00a0environmental and energy law by aiding in the creation\u00a0of\u00a0meaningful partnerships\u00a0with\u00a0experienced\u00a0attorneys practicing in the areas of environmental and energy law in the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n

With a focus on the individual needs of\u00a0law students and attorneys,\u00a0Mentees and Mentors are paired based upon a variety of criteria. These factors include the Mentee\u2019s needs, the specific area of practice or interest, and the geographic region in which the Mentee attends law school or resides. In addition to regular communication, the program encourages Mentees and Mentors to meet in person and facilitates opportunities for Mentees to receive advice on various topics such as law school success, paths into the practice area of interest, internships and summer jobs, career development, leadership, networking, and work-life balance. This year the Mentorship Program also plans to offer monthly Lunch and Learn programs, which will provide insight on a variety of substantive topics related to the practice of environmental and energy law,\u00a0and we plan to hold a Kickoff Event in early October.<\/p>\n

Cutting Sign to the Legal Profession Conference – September 29th – 30th, 2023<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

The University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in partnership with the University of Idaho College of Law, the University of Washington School of Law, and Ballard Spahr is hosting the Cutting Sign to the Legal Professions event. This program will be held in person from September 28 to October 1 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is open to law students of Native American\/American Indian, Alaska Native, First Nations, and North American Indigenous heritage. Student registration is due Wednesday, September 13<\/b>.<\/p>\n
