This\u00a0will\u00a0put\u00a0you\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0waitlist.<\/li>\n<li>Waitlists allow students to get in line for a course that is closed. Students are notified by email if a seat becomes available. If you are on a waitlist and are notified that a seat has become available, you will NOT automatically be registered &#8211; you must take action to register for the course. You will have a deadline during which you need to either register for the course or drop yourself from the waitlist. If you do not meet the deadline, you will be dropped automatically from the waitlist. Please take careful note of the following \u2018take action\u2019 deadlines:\n<ul>\n<li>From 12PM on Monday, August 7 to 9AM on Tuesday, August 22 \u2013 you have 24 hours to take action<\/li>\n<li>From 9AM on Tuesday, August 22, you have a maximum of 12 hours to take action<\/li>\n<li>Please note: Add\/Drop ends at 1PM on Friday, September 1, so if you are notified after 1AM on September 1, you must take action\u00a0before the deadline (which may be less than 12 hours)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Practicum Registration<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Any student who has been approved by Dean Ramji-Nogales to enroll in an Independent Practicum should submit a completed Practicum Agreement by August 18, 2023.\u00a0 The form can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/resources\/student-services\/course-registration\/practicums\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Independent Guided Research Registration<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students interested in setting up an Independent Guided Research Project can learn more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/resources\/student-services\/course-registration\/guided-research\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 Guided Research registration forms should be submitted to Ms. Frisby-Selby (<a href=\"mailto:laura.frisby-selby@temple.edu\">laura.frisby-selby@temple.edu<\/a>) by the end of the first week of classes.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Graduation Requirements<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As you finalize your Fall 2023 schedule, please review your graduation requirements.\u00a0 You can find the requirements <a href=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/academics\/degrees\/jd\/graduation-requirements\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0Please remember that each course can only fulfill ONE graduation requirement, meaning that even if the course is designed to fulfill multiple requirements, you may only use each course for one requirement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\n<h3><strong><i>Fall 2023 Semester: Upper Level Courses begin Monday, August 28th<\/i><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The academic calendar can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/academics\/academic-calendar\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 Upper-level courses will begin on Monday, August 28, 2023.<\/p>\n<h3><em><strong>Antitrust and Economic Regulation: ABA Antitrust Section Student Ambassador Program<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">The ABA Section of Antitrust Law is taking applications for<span class=\"xapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><b>the Law Student Ambassador Program<\/b><span class=\"xapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>for law students interested in careers in antitrust, consumer protection, or privacy. Law Student Ambassadors receive a number of benefits from the program:<span class=\"xapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Assignment to a substantive committee in the Section<\/li>\n<li>Priority placement in the Mentor Program<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities to volunteer in the Section<\/li>\n<li>Monthly digest of programs that may be of interest<\/li>\n<li>Liaison to law school and opportunity to host a &#8220;Why antitrust\u2026&#8221; panel<\/li>\n<li>Call with other LSAs and section leadership every other month<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Students interested in antitrust, consumer protection, or privacy are encouraged to apply to the program. <b>The application will remain open until September 15. <\/b>Students can use the following link to apply: <a href=\"https:\/\/americanbar.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_6sa8JNoybJtF8qO\">https:\/\/americanbar.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_6sa8JNoybJtF8qO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3><em><strong>2023 Law Library Student Survey \u2013 we heard what you want, and here\u2019s what we\u2019re doing <\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>Thank you to everyone who participated in the Temple Law Library student survey!\u00a0 Below is an update of what we\u2019re doing in response to what you told us.\u00a0 The conversation doesn\u2019t need to end here \u2013 you can always share feedback and ideas with us via <a href=\"mailto:tulawlib@temple.edu\">tulawlib@temple.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Quiet spaces<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nOne of the top complaints was that the library is too noisy.\u00a0 Although we can\u2019t change the atrium\u2019s acoustics, we have increased signage to clarify where <strong>designated quiet spaces<\/strong> are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Floor 3A of the library<\/li>\n<li>4 West (Broad Street side)<\/li>\n<li>Floor 7 of the library<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u><strong>Furniture<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\n<strong>New furniture is coming!<\/strong>\u00a0 This summer the northeast lounges on levels 5A and 6A will get new furniture, including armchairs and study nooks.\u00a0 Wooden tables and chairs on the northwest lounges also will be refurbished, and we will receive new chairs for the study carrels in the stacks, including seating for the high counters.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Lighting<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nWe know \u2013 there isn\u2019t much natural light in parts of the library.\u00a0 If you crave sunlight, the north side lounges on level 3-7 are next to large windows, and the library offers a light therapy lamp for checkout.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Trainings<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nYou love library trainings, particularly for practice topics.\u00a0 But you want them at noon!\u00a0 With food!\u00a0 And recorded!\u00a0 We hear you \u2013 at least some library trainings will move back to noon next year, and all trainings will continue to be recorded and posted on the Law Library Canvas page.\u00a0 (If you aren\u2019t on the Canvas page, email <a href=\"mailto:tulawlib@temple.edu\">tulawlib@temple.edu<\/a> to be added.)<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Alumni access<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\n<strong>Yes, you can come back.<\/strong>\u00a0 Temple Law alumni can return to lounge on the new furniture, research with books, and access databases such as HeinOnline, ProQuest Legislative Insight, and the Foreign Law Guide from our public computers.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Additional concerns<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nSome of the issues and requests (printers, HVAC, therapy dog visits) are outside the library\u2019s control, but they will be shared with the appropriate people\/departments.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>And finally\u2026our winners!<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nCongratulations to Rob Swift and Zariyah Hodge!<\/p>\n<h3><em><strong>Temple Law Alumni in the News<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>We&#8217;re excited to introduce our new feature page of the Student Post, <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.law.temple.edu\/studentpost\/temple-law-alumni-in-the-news\/\"><strong>Temple Law Alumni in the News<\/strong><\/a>. A <a href=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/resources\/student-services\/course-registration\/practicums\/\" data-auth=\"Verified\">practicum course<\/a> offers students an opportunity to earn 2- or 3-credits in connection with an unpaid experiential opportunity. In a practicum course, students will engage in a project for a real client under the supervision of an on-site practicing attorney or supervisor <u>and<\/u> a full-time faculty member. We offer two types of practicum courses: School Designed Practicums and Independent Practicums.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3><em><strong>School Designed Practicums &#8211; Next Deadline August 7th<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>Our School Designed Practicums are pre-approved practicum opportunities with designated faculty supervisors. Each semester, we published a School Designed Practicum Course Catalogue that provides a description for each practicum course and the application requirements. TUSafe, which will launch Monday, Aug. 14, will ultimately replace RAVE Temple Guardian.<\/p>\n<p>The new TUSafe app will include enhanced features such as the ability to link to new key resources within the app. It also retains all of the features that were available in RAVE Temple Guardian, including the ability to chat with Temple Police, call Temple Police, call 911 or start a virtual safe walk. A valid TUid can be your physical or mobile OWLcard.<\/li>\n<li>Flight operates 7 days per week from 6 PM to 2 AM, and the shuttles arrive at each drop-off and pick-up location every 15 minutes during this service time. The service continues to operate in a modified form during university breaks.<\/li>\n<li>Flight serves the Main Campus\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/safety.temple.edu\/services-programs\/main-campus-patrol-map\"><strong>patrol zone<\/strong><\/a>. It operates in two loops \u2013 the north loop, which covers the northern parts of the patrol zone, and the south loop, which covers the southern and eastern parts of the patrol zone. Shuttles on each loop follow a fixed route around that loop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Flight shuttles can be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/flight.transloc.com\/routes\"><strong>tracked in real time<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0using the TransLoc App during hours of operation.\u00a0Use the website or app to plan your arrival at the shuttle stop most convenient for you \u2013 the shuttle driver will stop for you if they see you at the stop, but the shuttle will continue on its way if no one is waiting.
