PA Voter Registration – Register by October 7th for the November Election<\/h3>\n
You can find the Pennsylvania Voter Registration Application here<\/a>. October 7th is the last day to register before the November 5th election.<\/p>\n Welcome to Week 7! We’re halfway through the Fall 2019 semester. We will have fruit and snacks at the Help Desk from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Monday and from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n The Law School’s six in-house clinics<\/a> offer the chance to engage in real-life lawyering, under faculty supervision and for course credit. The application follows a special schedule, beginning this Monday, October 7th<\/strong>, when the on-line\u00a0Application Form<\/a> will become available. The application must be completed by October 21st at 4 pm.<\/p>\n For more information, come to the in-house clinic information session on Thursday, October 10th<\/strong> from 12 to 1 pm in K2A, and see the In-House Clinic Descriptions<\/a> and the In-House Clinic Application and Registration<\/a> pages. The Clinical Professors also welcome questions directly. We look forward to seeing your applications and seeing you at the informational next week.<\/p>\n There is one slot available for second and third year law students in this Practicum supervised by Professor Jon Smollen.<\/p>\n The experiential learning project offered with this Practicum is with the Civil Division of the United States Attorney\u2019s Office (USAO) for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Students will work on a variety of matters including researching health care and other fraud related topics (particular regulatory environments, state statutes and regulations); analyzing compliance-adjacent documents such as statutes, regulations, and enforcement documents and creation of topic area summaries; data analytics of public data sources on given topics; and identifying likely areas of fraud exploitation and\/or targeting of business units that are likely to be committing fraud, waste, or abuse.<\/p>\n This Practicum is ideal for students who are committed to the compliance field and have a vested interest in data analytics and data mining. Interest in health law and criminal law is also preferable. There are no pre requisite courses, however, preference will be given to students who have taken compliance courses including Introduction to Compliance, Health Care Fraud: Investigation, Prosecution, and Compliance, and Drug and Medical Device Law. Students must commit to 10 hours per week.
