Mac Users: Hold Off Upgrading to macOS Sequoia
Apple will release its latest operating system, macOS Sequoia, on Monday September 16. At this time, Information Technology Services recommends not installing this upgrade, as you may encounter compatibility issues with various applications used at the university.
Once our vendors certify that key applications used in our environment are compatible, we will notify you that it is safe to install this upgrade.
Questions? Please contact the Technology Support Center at tuhelp.temple.edu (click Chat or Request Help) or call 215-204-8000.
Important: Microsoft and Apple Upcoming Operating System Updates and Examplify Compatibility
Microsoft and Apple have announced the upcoming release of new operating systems Windows 11 24H2 and macOS Sequoia, though the official dates are not yet available.
ExamSoft is currently testing Examplify’s compatibility with these new operating systems. Certifying Examplify’s compatibility can only be completed after final versions of the new operating systems have been released because Microsoft and Apple may make key changes right up until release.
Exam-takers should not update their devices to the new Windows and Mac operating systems until we announce Examplify’s compatibility with the new versions. This includes beta versions that may be available to exam-takers prior to their official release dates.
If you are concerned that your operating system may automatically update, please check out this article for information on disabling automatic updates.

Volunteer Judges and Jurors needed for Mock Trial Competition – September 28th & 29th
Temple Law students are invited to serve as judges and jurors at a prestigious mock trial invitational that is coming to Philly on September 28th and 29th. The program is run by the nonprofit Empire Mock Trial in partnership with the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Not only would you be performing a true public service, but the experience is entertaining (the students are great) and this would be educational for you, too: you’d get the experience of sitting in a real courthouse (the Center for Criminal Justice) and hearing arguments from the other side of the jury box or bench.
No prior mock trial experience is required given we are looking for students to serve as jurors. However, if you are interested in presiding, then prior experience is necessary.
The report times are 9:15 AM and 2:30 PM on 9/28 and 9/29. You only need to volunteer for one round (though you are welcome to volunteer for more).

Valuable Networking Opportunity For Students Interested In A Career In Environmental Law In Philly
See below for information on a great networking opportunity for Temple Law students interested in environmental law. Students interested in in applying should send a paragraph of interest and a resume to Prof. Amy Sinden, Amy.Sinden@temple.edu, by Monday, September 16th.
The Delaware Valley Environmental American Inn of Court (DVEAIC) is offering membership to one or two students from each Philadelphia area law school for its 2024-2025 academic year. DVEAIC is an intimate group of 80 to 90 lawyers, law professors, and law students, and is intended to enhance the professional and ethical quality of legal practice in our community. DVEAIC, which was founded in 1996 and was the first Inn in the U.S. to specialize in environmental law, has proven particularly stimulating as the membership is comprised of an exceptional cross-section of the tri-state area’s environmental bar, including representatives from federal, state, and city agencies; in-house and private practices (large and small); public interest organizations; law school professors; and students from each of the six area law schools. DVEAIC meets about once a month. Meetings consist of a one-hour social hour, followed by a one-hour CLE presented by a different team of members.
For law students, the DVEAIC offers a unique opportunity to network with environmental attorneys in a more casual atmosphere, designed to help bridge the gap between law school and formal legal practice. Students can also participate in our mentor/mentee program. Our first meeting of the year will be on September 25, 2024, 5:30pm. Meetings will take place in-person on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December are combined for the first Wednesday in December) through April 2025.
In addition, DVEAIC is dedicated to having a diverse and active membership. Diversity embodies all those differences that make us unique individuals and includes people of different race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, gender, religion, age, personal style, appearance, physical ability as well as people of diverse opinion, perspectives, lifestyles, ideas and thinking. We value the differences in views and perspectives and the varied experiences that are part of a diverse membership. We seek members from a wide variety of environmentally related practice areas, from diverse geographic areas, from diverse practice settings (large/medium/small firms, solo practitioners, in-house, all levels of government, public interest, and academia), and otherwise representative of the environmental bar.
