Throughout her legal career, Levick has been an advocate for children\u2019s and women\u2019s rights and is a nationally recognized expert in juvenile law. Levick oversees Juvenile Law Center\u2019s litigation and appellate docket. She has successfully litigated challenges to unlawful and harmful laws, policies and practices on behalf of children in both the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. \u00a0Levick also spearheaded Juvenile Law Center\u2019s litigation arising out of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jlc.org\/current-initiatives\/promoting-fairness-courts\/luzerne-kids-cash-scandal\">Luzerne County, Pennsylvania juvenile court judges\u2019 corruption scandal<\/a>, known as the \u201ckids for cash\u201d scandal, where Juvenile Law Center successfully sought the expungement and vacatur of thousands of juveniles\u2019 cases before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and is pursuing civil damages for the children and their families in a federal civil rights class action.<\/p>\n<p>Levick has authored or co-authored numerous appellate and amicus briefs in state and federal appeals courts throughout the country, including many before the US Supreme Court, and has argued before both state and federal appellate courts in Pennsylvania and numerous other jurisdictions. Levick co-authored the lead child advocates\u2019 amicus briefs in key recent United States Supreme Court cases, including\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jlc.org\/legal-docket\/roper-v-simmons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.jlc.org\/legal-docket\/roper-v-simmons&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1517685519342000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHdE9YBJeVCDNQJvmYjoRZQclGs2g\"><i>Roper v. Simmons<\/i><\/a><i>\u00a0<\/i>(juvenile death penalty unconstitutional under the Eighth Amendment);\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jlc.org\/legal-docket\/sullivan-v-florida-graham-v-florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.jlc.org\/legal-docket\/sullivan-v-florida-graham-v-florida&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1517685519342000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFrsno72OgkTLc7MTenpSQTn_R2xw\"><i>Graham v. Levick is a frequent speaker and lecturer on children\u2019s rights nationwide, and has also co-authored numerous scholarly articles on children\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<p>Levick serves on the boards of the Louisiana Center for Children\u2019s Rights and the Southern Poverty Law Center, and is a member of the Dean\u2019s Council, Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
