Location<\/strong> Cost: $495<\/strong> Recommended Textbook (Optional)<\/strong> Hodge and Hubbard, Clinical Anatomy for Lawyers<\/em>, American Bar Association, 2012<\/p>\n The book is available through the ABA or it may be obtained on Amazon.<\/p>\n Description<\/strong> Injuries to the spine, arm and knee are the most common injuries attorneys will face in the personal injury arena. This 10 hour course will focus on the anatomy of these areas and will explain how trauma occurs to each unit. The course will be a collaborative effort among the Temple Schools of Law and Medicine and the Fox School\u2019s Legal Studies Department. Professor Hodge, will co-teach the course with Virginia Graziani, M.D., J.D., Steven Popoff, Ph.D ., and the anatomy faculty from the medical school. Classes will be held on Tuesday nights at the medical school during March of 2017 and will include classroom lectures, hands-on instruction, and actual dissections of the body in the anatomy lab, and diagnostic imaging reviews.<\/p>\n Following an introductory lecture, and a discussion of medical ethics, the course will cover dissections of:<\/p>\n 3\/7\/17\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0(Class One) – Introduction to Anatomy Professor Hodge explained the reasons for expanding the popular CLE series: \u201cLawyers are trained to recognize or defeat theories of liability. That, however, is only a part of a claim. Medical issues, such as causation and damages, play an equally important role, but most attorneys are not educated in medical matters. This joint certificate program is designed to help attorneys better understand the nuances of medicine. Attorneys will obtain \u2018hands on\u2019 experience in the dissection lab as they learn the intricacies of the musculoskeletal system while being exposed to how the spine, upper extremities and lower extremities work.\u201d<\/p>\n Upon successful completion of the program, attorneys will receive the appropriate CLE credits and certificates in Medicine and Law from both the law and medical schools.<\/p>\n
