Berks Family Detention Center

Students have researched legal problems presented at the Berks Family Detention Center, a secure facility that holds immigrant families and their children.  Family detention is not only unnecessary, but also harms parents and children and inhibits their access to counsel.  We are working with a coalition of community-based groups, attorneys, and national organizations advocating against the confinement of families at the facility.  Click here for the fact sheet that Sheller Center students developed for Juntos, a lead organization in the coalition, and here for a more recent fact sheet challenging family detention from an international human rights perspective.
